The average house in Sydney is now selling for $1.31 million and units for $825,000.

A typical Sydney house is now about $296,000 more expensive than it was at the beginning of January, while units have experienced a gain of $91,000.

“Clearance rates have risen on higher volumes. What it shows is that buyer competition is still there, still intense, but I think as we see restrictions ease further, we are likely to see listings continue to rise”.

Homes in the northern beaches, Camden and Hawkesbury council were the most profitable, with 97.7% selling for more than the purchase price.

According to Corelogic, property values in Sydney rose 1.9% in September and are nudging close to 24% over the year.

Commercial property in Brisbane CBD and fringe city locations commercial sector was becoming increasingly attractive to investors due to:

  • a low number of lockdowns
  • record low interest rates and
  • the announcement at the end of July; it would be hosting the 2032 Olympic Games
