Talking Real Estate with John Gibson, alongside co host Mark Warren, welcomes rugby league great Steve “Blocker” Roach for a wide ranging conversation about sport, life, and property.
On the field, Blocker was one of the toughest front rowers of the 80s and early 90s. He debuted for the Balmain Tigers in 1982, played 185 top grade games for the club, and finished with 287 first class games, including a stint with Warrington in England. He represented New South Wales 17 times in State of Origin and played 20 Tests for Australia. His honours include multiple Dally M Prop of the Year awards, selection in the NRL Team of the 1980s, and induction into the NRL Hall of Fame and the NSW Rugby League Hall of Fame.
But this episode goes beyond the reputation. Away from the tough front row image, Blocker is thoughtful, grounded, and family first. A devoted husband to Cathy, a proud father, and a hands on granddad, he shares the lessons that shaped him. It is a conversation about discipline, pressure, resilience, and what matters when the noise dies down.
John brings the property lens, shaped by more than 35 years advising buyers and investors, to unpack the decisions that compound over time. They talk first purchases, mindset, and the simple principle Blocker comes back to without hesitation.
If you are buying your first place, investing, or looking for clear thinking around money and property, this one is worth your time.
